I am so fortunate to coach so many athletes kicking ass every weekend, whether it’s training or racing. They balance so much with their families and careers so that they can go have fun in the woods. The gratification of finishing a big training day or race is unmatched. Jewly’s big smile upon crossing the finish at Pinhoti 100 perfectly encapsulates that joy. However, it would be negligent to only focus on the positive results. Some days don’t go to plan and end in disappointment. But, learning from those experiences and taking steps to problem solve and adjust leads to the good days. Here’s to all the days, good and bad!💚💚Two roads did not diverge because I was on singletrack. And being a trail runner has made all the difference. #notrobertfrostI ran the Bear 100 this weekend. I had one of my best days ever from a mental standpoint during an ultra. I typically get pretty down and can’t shake the negative thoughts and blues once the night hits. I was able to be objective, accept things as is, and work through the negative thoughts quickly this weekend. Thank you @darcie_kmurph for being a wonderful host in Logan. It’s such a treat to meet up with my fellow coaches and spend time together in person. Thank you @nn.rasmussen for pacing me the last 25 miles and keeping me fed, moving, and entertained. With it being so cold and wearing 3 pairs of gloves, it was rather luxurious for you to get my gels out of my pack and open them for me. Nicole also started coaching me this year. It was such a fun process as an athlete and coach to be on the other side of coaching and see the value from a new perspective in the design of my own training. Thank you to all who reached out, wished me luck, and sent a message of congratulations. All those kind and thoughtful messages truly meant a lot. #trainright #bear100
